NABLUS, (PIC)-- Thousands of jubilant Hamas supporters demonstrated in the northern West Bank city of Nablus Thursday in support of the Palestinian reconciliation that Hamas and Fatah signed in Cairo a couple of days ago.
The demonstration of Hamas was the first ever in four years as the Movement was banned by the PA authority in Ramallah from holding any rally.
Prominent political figures of Hamas in the city headed by MP Hamid Al-Bietwai, led the demonstration that started after Maghrib prayer in the old town of the city.
In a brief speech he delivered before the jubilant Hamas supporters, Bietawi welcomed the reconciliation agreement, vowing that the Palestinian people will not allow any hand to spoil it.
Mohammed Ghazal, another Hamas political figure in the city echoed the same delightful remarks of Beitawi, calling on all Palestinian parties not to allow or bow to external pressures on them. He also stressed the need to release all political detainees in the PA jails in the West Bank.
Participants chanted for unity so that Palestinians can continue with their struggle for freedom. They also called for an end to political detention despite the intensive presence of the PA security forces during the rally.
