GAZA, (PIC)-- An agreement was reached between Hamas and Fatah factions to hold their second reconciliation meeting in Damascus on Tuesday 9/11 to discuss pending security issues, well informed sources told the PIC.

Dr. Ismail Radwan, a Hamas leader in Gaza, had revealed on Monday night that an agreement was reached with Fatah on holding the meeting in Damascus next week, adding that Ismail Al-Ashqar would lead the Hamas delegation from Gaza.

He told the PIC on Monday evening that the meting would focus on restructuring the PA security apparatuses on national basis to enable them to protect and defend Palestinian rights.

A security delegation from Gaza would attend the meeting, Radwan said, but would not mention the names of the delegates.

"We hope that the meeting would achieve national reconciliation and restore national unity based on national constants and political partnership," he said.

The Hamas leader asserted that his movement was keen on attaining reconciliation to resist occupation, repel aggression, boost Palestinian steadfastness, and end the series of concessions in the Palestine cause.
Khatib expects failure of reconciliation

NAZARETH, (PIC)-- Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, the deputy head of the Islamic movement in 1948 occupied Palestine, has predicted that the internal Palestinian reconciliation would fail soon after its accomplishment.

He told Al-Quds TV satellite channel on Monday night that certain persons had linked their interest to that of the Israeli occupation and would thus foil the reconciliation.

The Sheikh said that the holy Aqsa Mosque was in need of united Palestinian efforts to defend it, noting that Jerusalemites would defend the holy site until the "last drop of their blood".

Hamas leader in Gaza Ismail Radwan had announced that a second Hamas-Fatah meeting would be held in Damascus next Tuesday to discuss the final pending issue of security apparatuses before signing the reconciliation agreement.
