Salah: We stand between paralyzed Palestinian, power-mad Israeli positions

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Sheikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement in 1948 occupied Palestine, called on Mahmoud Abbas to admit the failure of the settlement option, which did nothing for the Palestinian cause except set it back in its progression, stressing that there is a need to restart collective thinking, involving both leadership and internal factions, along with the Palestinian people and its institutions.

Sheikh Salah said in a dialogue which had been circulated by Al-Aqsa Foundation for Endowments and Heritage Sunday before being incarcerated by Israeli authorities, that the campaign to displace the people of Jerusalem, especially legislative council representatives, “has no ceiling”, warning that the exile of Palestinian MPs in Jerusalem serves as a prelude to exile the rest of the city’s citizens.

The Aqsa Sheikh said that the Oslo agreements handcuffed the Palestinians towards Jerusalem, under the claim that Jerusalem’s file is a delayed file based on Oslo.

“In return,” he said, “the reins were given to (Israel) to continue in non-stop Judaization of Jerusalem and its holy sites, foremostly the Aqsa Mosque. And the result of such a differential condition, which is between a paralyzed Palestinian position and a power-mad Israeli position, is that threats against Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque increased, and the Zionist occupation continues in its Judaization projects up until this moment".

Sheikh Salah said, "The bitter reality confirms what I say, this means that the Oslo agreement had tragic results in every sense of the word, on the occupied city of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque, in addition to the Oslo agreement resulting in opening the door to exile the Palestinians of 1948.”

On his part, Hamas leader and spokesman of its parliamentary bloc, Dr. Salah al-Bardawil, said at a protest rally over the Sheikh’s arrest on Monday morning in front of Khan Younis city hall, that Sheikh Raed Salah was wrongfully jailed, and he will not weaken or be discouraged as long as he derives his strength from Allah and the Palestinian people.

He added that Israel’s hostile moves aimed at the Palestinians and their holy places serve as a test to the Arab and Islamic countries and for the readiness of their people to defend the Aqsa Mosque.
