1000 tons of explosives and white phosphorus dropped on Gaza in 22 days

Source

[ 17/01/2009 - 02:49 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli 10th TV channel has disclosed that the Israeli occupation forces had used half of the air force and launched at least 2500 air raids over the past three weeks of attacks on Gaza Strip.

The TV military correspondent said on Saturday that the Israeli warplanes had dropped more than a thousand tons of explosives in that period.

He reported that the shells fired by artillery, tanks, infantry and gunboats were not included in those fired by the air force.

The intensive Israeli air, sea and land shelling had targeted civilian neighborhoods, mosques and security buildings other than UNRWA offices and warehouses and killed 1200 citizens so far other than 5400 wounded.

Dr. Hassanein: Israel used weapons melting human bodies

[ 17/01/2009 - 05:05 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Muawiya Hassanein, the director of ambulance and emergency in the health ministry, revealed that the IOF troops used weapons against civilians never seen before which melt human bodies down to the bone.

Dr. Hassanein told the PIC that the medical staff found in one of the apartments in the Karama tower three melted bodies which turned into skeletons the thing which proves that Israel used internationally banned bombs during its attacks on the building.

The health official added that it had been found in bombed apartments and towers in the Tel Al-Islam a white chemical powder which causes lethal side effects, noting that there are many Palestinians in hospitals with their limbs melted in addition to seven citizens who died of serious burns in their bodies.

In another press statement to the PIC, the health official said that the death toll of the Israeli aggression which entered its 22nd day rose to 1,200 Palestinians, half of them were children and women, while the injuries soared to 5,300.

He added that the death toll included 410 children and 108 women, while the injuries included 400 serious cases.

HRW: IOF violating laws of war

The HTW organization has said that the IOF use of heavy artillery in heavily populated areas in Gaza city was in violation of the international ban on indiscriminate attacks in civilian areas.

Ging calls for international investigation into IOF killing of civilians in Gaza

John Ging, the director of UNRWA operations in Gaza Strip, on Saturday demanded an international and independent investigation in the Israeli occupation forcers' killing of civilians in the Strip.

Israel trying to appear as peacemaker

It seems the devilish plan coming out of Tel Aviv is for Israel to call a unilateral ceasefire but at the same time for Israeli forces to remain in their current places. In other words, Gaza gets a little smaller.

So the Jews get to decide when to start the war, they get to decide when it ends.
Of course any further action by Hamas will then be described as breaking the ceasefire, failing to mention at the same time it's only the Israeli's ceasefire.

In doing this the Jews are hoping international uproar, although a total lack of inaction, will slowly subside and the genocide will be forgotten again.

Give it two years and they will go for the same scam again, no doubt with their eyes on the gas and oil reserves in Palestinian waters.

Israeli Cabinet prepares for cease-fire vote

THE REAL TRUTH.

Hamas Offers One Year Gaza Truce if Israel Leaves
Ban "Reasonably Optimistic" Israel Will Accept Ceasefire

Hamas has reportedly told the Egyptian government that it will agree to a year-long, renewable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip if Israel withdraws its forces from the strip in the next week and reopens the border crossings which have long remained closed.

The offer falls well short of the “durable” ceasefire that the Israel has been calling for, but with a soaring number of civilian deaths as Israeli troops move deeper into the strip’s most densely populated regions, Israel is under growing international pressure to at least make some gesture in favor of the peace process, and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says he is “reasonably optimistic” that Israel will ultimately accept the ceasefire.

Yesterday Israel insisted that it would never agree to a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, http://wire.antiwar.com/2009/01/14/israel-rebuffs-temporary-gaza-truce/ but growing furor over the Israeli attack on the United Nations headquarters in Gaza and the announcement that for the second time in a week the United Nations will halt its aid operations until Israel agrees to stop attacking their employees are likely to add pressure to get the deal done.

Its Time for a Resistant Government

Islamic Jihad Leader Calls for Resistant Government

Hanan Awarekeh Readers Number : 323

16/01/2009

Secretary General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, Ramadan Shallah, said that the Palestinian resistance refuses the Egyptian initiative because it hasn’t met the four terms set by the resistance, calling on disbanding the Palestinian Authority and forming a resistant government.

In a phone call with Al-Jazeera satellite Channel, Shallah added that the resistance “hasn’t put all its options in one basket”, saying that the initiative didn’t include an instant Israeli ceasefire, withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army and full opening of the entire crossings. “We have submitted our notes to Cairo; however we haven’t received any positive reply so far.”
Concerning the Qatari-proposed Arab summit, the Islamic Jihad leader praised Qatar and the countries that have agreed on attending it, yet he denounced the Arab states that rejected it, saying “let them remove their names out of the disgrace list and agree on the meeting in Doha.”

In reference to some Arab countries’ support to discuss Gaza during the economic meeting in Kuwait, Shallah said “The Palestinian people’s blood is not merchandise discussed as the dollar and Oil, however it is blood that deserves an independent title of dignity and honor not a title next to the stock markets and shares.”

He also stressed on the role of the entire Palestinian factions that firmly coordinate among each other, saying “The occupation army is confronting a legendary resistance, and it hasn’t achieved any advance in the battlefield because the resistance fighters are bravely holding it off in the fierce battles taking place in two main axes: Jabaliya, northern Gaza and Tal el-Hawa, south of the Strip.”

"The Islamist resistance has earned a place at the table with blood,"

Fawaz Gerges in the Nation, here, thanks to "MON".
"...Many professionals, both Christian and Muslim Arabs, previously critical of Hamas, are bitter about what they call Israel's "barbaric conduct" against Palestinian noncombatants, particularly women and children. No one I have encountered believes Israel's narrative that this is a war against Hamas, not the Palestinian people. A near consensus exists among Arabs and Muslims that Israel is battering the Palestinian population in an effort to force it to revolt against Hamas, just as it tried to force the Lebanese people to revolt against Hezbollah in the summer of 2006. But Hezbollah weathered that Israeli storm, acquired a sturdier immune system and became the most powerful institution in Lebanon. In so doing it shattered Israeli deterrence, delivered a blow to US Mideast policy and expanded the influence of Iran, Hezbollah's main supporter in the region.

In my recent travels I was struck by the widespread popular support for Hamas--from college students and street vendors to workers and intellectuals. Very few ventured criticism of Hamas, and many said they felt awed by the fierce resistance put forward by its fighters. Israel's onslaught on Gaza has effectively silenced critics of Hamas .....will likely emerge as a more powerful political force than before and will likely top Fatah, the ruling apparatus of President Mahmoud Abbas's Palestinian Authority.

"No one dares any longer to question Hamas's right to represent the Palestinian people,...The Islamist resistance has earned a place at the table with blood," he told me....More than the war against Hezbollah, Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza has already undermined the legitimacy and authority of pro-Western regimes like Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia in the eyes of many of their citizens..."
Fatima found his justification funny and embarrassing . Abbas said he did not know the summit was still on , then he said he could not get an OK from israel (qatar said it could get the OK for him ) and later admitted he was under pressure from those who fund fatah and its thieves . shame . He should have gone for the sake of the children of Gaza , He has just proved beyond any doubt He was always the wrong Leader among palestinians . im so happy he did not go so i could see the heros (islamic jihad and hamas ) instead . I was so happy not to see the AL Yahood and Mubarak there either . thank god "

Flashback:

Israel’s Right to Exist and Defend Itself

The justifications were based on Jewish racial superiority and the supposed need of Lebensraum. Zionist decided on Palestine for their Jewish homeland, despite it’s small Jewish popualtion in comparison to the Arab population. Not that that mattered to Zionists - they considered Arabs to be Untermenschen - they justified the occupation, colonisation and ethnic- cleansing of Palestine in the same way the Nazis justified their holocaust.

But does that matter today?

Yes, because Israel wasn’t just forged out of occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and terrorism - its very existence is based on it, and that will always be a problem. Israel can’t survive as a Jewish racial supremacist state with a large Palestinian population - that is the cause of the current Israeli genocide against the Palestinians. Israel flouts international law and commits acts every bit as barbourous as the Nazis - even if on a lesser scale - and continues to get away with it.

Israel has no legal argument for its actions but likes to cite the right to exist as a quasi-legal defence for atrocity after atrocity. But this is a smoke screen, even though Israel was admitted into the UN on the 11 May, 1949, there is no international law that guarantees Israel a ‘right to exist’ and there is no legal justification for genocide or ethnic cleansing.

No state has the right to exist, if it was put to a plebiscite as Iran has suggested, a majority of Palestinians and Israelis, would elect to live in a single state of Palestine, as is there right. Israel can only exist by force of arms and denying Palestinians an equal democratic vote. But not only does Israel not have a right to exist the Palestinians have a right to resist occupation.

Israel’s other defence of its atrocities is the right to defend itself, which is no justification for genocide, and actually Israel doesn’t have a right of self-defence in Gaza. Israel is unlawfully occupying Gaza and the West Bank, which is a violation the United Charter and invalidates the right of self-defence under article 51. Israel also refuses to acknowledge Palestinian sovereignty. So the Israeli argument is completly bogus.

Supporting Israel is supporting Jewish fascism, imperialism, genocide, ethnic-cleansing and racial supramacy - it really is that simple. You don’t have to support Hamas to be opposed to that.

How to sell 'ethical warfare'

Claim moral superiority, intimidate enemies and crush dissent – Israel's media management is not just impressive, it's terrifying

Neve Gordon
Neve Gordon

guardian.co.uk, Friday 16 January 2009 20.30 GMT

Article history

One of my students was arrested yesterday and spent the night in a prison cell. R's offence was protesting the Israeli assault on Gaza. He joins over 700 other Israelis who have been detained since the beginning of Israel's ruthless war on Gaza: an estimated 230 of whom are still behind bars. Within the Israeli context, this strategy of quelling protest and stifling resistance is unprecedented, and it is quite disturbing that the international media has failed to comment on it.

Simultaneously, the Israeli media has been towing the government line to such a degree that no criticism of the war has been voiced on any of the three local television stations. Indeed, the situation has become so absurd that reporters and anchors are currently less critical of the war than the military spokespeople. In the absence of any critical analysis, it is not so surprising that 78% of Israelis, or about 98% of all Jewish Israelis, support the war.

But eliding critical voices is not the only way that public support has been secured. Support has also been manufactured through ostensibly logical argumentation. One of the ways the media, military and government have been convincing Israelis to rally behind the assault is by claiming that Israel is carrying out a moral military campaign against Hamas. The logic, as Eyal Weizman has cogently observed in his groundbreaking book Hollow Land, is one of restraint.

The Israeli media continuously emphasises Israel's restraint by underscoring the gap between what the military forces could do to the Palestinians and what they actually do. Here are a few examples of the refrains Israelis hear daily while listening to the news:

• Israel could bomb houses from the air without warning, but it has military personnel contact – by phone no less – the residents 10 minutes in advance of an attack to alert them that their house is about to be destroyed. The military, so the subtext goes, could demolish houses without such forewarnings, but it does not do so because it values human life.

• Israel deploys teaser bombs – ones that do not actually ruin houses – a few minutes before it fires lethal missiles; again, to show that it could kill more Palestinians but chooses not to do so.

• Israel knows that Hamas leaders are hiding in al-Shifa hospital. The intimation is that it does not raze the medical centre to the ground even though it has the capacity to do so.

• Due to the humanitarian crisis the Israeli military stops its attacks for a few hours each day and allows humanitarian convoys to enter the Gaza Strip. Again, the unspoken claim is that it could have barred these convoys from entering.

The message Israel conveys through these refrains has two different meanings depending on the target audience.

To the Palestinians, the message is one that carries a clear threat: Israel's restraint could end and there is always the possibility of further escalation. Regardless of how lethal Israel's military attacks are now, the idea is to intimidate the Palestinian population by underscoring that the violence can always become more deadly and brutal. This guarantees that violence, both when it is and when it is not deployed, remains an ever-looming threat.

The message to the Israelis is a moral one. The subtext is that the Israeli military could indiscriminately unleash its vast arsenal of violence, but chooses not to, because its forces, unlike Hamas, respect human life.

This latter claim appears to have considerable resonance among Israelis, and, yet, it is based on a moral fallacy. The fact that one could be more brutal but chooses to use restraint does not in any way entail that one is moral. The fact that the Israeli military could have razed the entire Gaza Strip, but instead destroyed only 15% of the buildings does not make its actions moral. The fact that the Israeli military could have killed thousands of Palestinian children during this campaign, and, due to restraint, killed "only" 300, does not make Operation Cast Lead ethical.

Ultimately, the moral claims the Israeli government uses to support its actions during this war are empty. They actually reveal Israel's unwillingness to confront the original source of the current violence, which is not Hamas, but rather the occupation of the Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem. My student, R, and the other Israeli protesters seem to have understood this truism; in order to stop them from voicing it, Israel has stomped on their civil liberties by arresting them.

Abbas to HBJ: "...if I attend Doha', they'll cut my jugular"

Mishaal: Israel couldn’t achieve victory over resistance

[ 16/01/2009 - 08:05 PM ]

DOHA, (PIC)-- Khaled Mishaal, the head OF Hamas's political bureau said Friday that the Israeli occupation government isn’t any more capable of achieving any victory over the Palestinian resistance, underlining that the Palestinian resistance factions won't accept Israeli conditions for ceasefire.

Mishaal was speaking before Arab and Muslim leaders who flocked into the Qatari capital Doha to attend the Arab summit called for by Qatar to discuss the Israeli occupation aggression on Gaza despite the absence of a number of Arab leaders, including Mahmoud Abbas among others.
The Hamas supreme political official also accused the Israeli occupation army of committing war crimes against Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip after they failed to defeat the Palestinian resistance.

He urged the summit to seriously mobilize on all levels to file lawsuits against the Israeli occupation government over the carnage in Gaza, stressing that the Palestinian resistance factions won't bow to the Israeli conditions for ceasefire because the resistance is still strong on the ground.

"Today, Israel isn’t able to achieve victory over the resistance, imagine how would the situation be had the entire Ummah faced it united", underlined Mishaal, explaining that the US administration doesn’t have the dominance it had before, and thus, he added, it shouldn’t impose dictates anymore on the region.

The Hamas official also called on the Arab summit to adopt the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people namely: halting the Israeli aggression, lifting the unjust siege, opening all crossing points, and the immediate pullout of the IOF troops from the Strip, in addition to holding the Israeli occupation government solely responsible for the carnage and destruction in the Gaza Strip.

In addition, Mishaal underscored the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation with all available means till the occupation is removed, inviting Arab leaders to severe all ties with the Zionist entity.

Finally, Mishaal urged the Arab and Muslim leaders to support the call of Qatar's Amir to rebuild the Gaza Strip and to sponsor real and genuine inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

Emergency summit in Qatar to try and stop fighting in Gaza:

"An emergency summit has been held in Qatar to try and stop the fighting in Gaza. It was atteneded by the presidents of Iran, Sudan, Senegal and Syria who declared Arab-led initiatives as 'dead'."

Palestinian resistance repels IOF troops in Tel Al-Islam

[ 16/01/2009 - 05:49 PM ]

Gaza, (PIC)-- Fighters of the Palestinian resistance factions led by the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas Movement, have succeeded Friday in pushing the invading IOF troops out of Tel A-Islam suburb, west of Gaza city, after fierce clashes in the area.

According to sources in the Palestinian resistance, the Palestinian fighters destroyed a number of Israeli armored vehicles despite the intensive Israeli air, land, and sea strikes on the populated suburb.

The headquarters of the UNRWA in Gaza Strip and a local hospital where around 500 people, including hundreds of patients, were inside were bombed by the Israeli warplanes alleging they were used by the Palestinian fighters to shoot at the IOF troops. The UNRWA and the hospital shrugged off the allegations and accused Israel of fabricating them.

Local sources confirmed to the PIC correspondent that the IOF troops were forced out of the suburb early Friday as a result of the fierce Palestinian resistance. Around 23 bodies of Palestinian civilians, including women and children were recovered from under the rubbles of their homes in the aftermath of the Israeli pullout.

The sources also confirmed that the retreating IOF troops kidnapped a number of Palestinian civilians and used them as human shields to cover their retreat and to claim later that they have captured resistance fighters.

End U.S. Military Aid to Israel!

___

The U.S. is a key enabler of Israeli militarism and the oppression of the Palestinian people. Israel is in fact the number one recipient of U.S. aid, to the tune of $3 billion each year, much of it military. This aid is used to buy the tanks, helicopters, and machine guns used in the current war.

__
Almost all U.S. politicians have provided their full backing for the Israeli government’s crimes against the Palestinian people. On Thursday, January 8, as reports came in from the Red Cross about Palestinian children starving next to their mothers’ corpses as Israel blocked ambulances and relief from getting through, and as a Vatican spokesperson referred to Gaza as a “giant concentration camp,” the U.S. Senate passed a resolution in support of Israel’s war efforts without a single word of criticism for the Israeli military.

__
The resolution blamed Hamas entirely for the war, despite the provocations of the Israeli military and the vicious blockade carried out by Israel and the U.S. The House passed a similar measure the following day by a vote of 390 to 5. Both these measures were crafted by the Democrats, who wanted to avoid being “out-hawked” by the Republicans.

__
Many so-called “antiwar” Democrats voted “present” on the resolution, cowardly refusing to vote against it. These included Reps. Barbara Lee, Lynn Woolsey, and Donna Edwards as well as the only Muslim Congressperson, Keith Ellison of Minneapolis, who was chased from a Twin Cities rally in support of Gaza after he refused to condemn Israel’s actions.

Chief Rabbi of the 1948 ethnically cleansed Safed advocates genocide

The Chief Rabbi of Safed, Rabbi Shmuel Elyahu, visited a Bnei Akiva yeshiva in Ashdod Thursday where he declared the war against Hamas as "a war of the people of Israel against Amalek." ( Haaretz )

I was wondering, sometimes it is difficult to hear the voices of rabid religious Jews in the secular Haaretz. But there you go.

So you have Haim Ramon, Matan Vilnai etc. advocating genocide on secular terms, and you're having the New York Times giving its op-ed page almost fully to secular genocide advocates, and you have a Chief Rabbi advocating genocide on religious terms.

Don't make light of this. This round will probably end soon but the next round will come and will be far worse.

This is not extremism. This is now mainstream Israeli perceptions, fully supported by the U.S. elites. Israel has to be stopped. It is a ticking genocide.

THE ISRAELI HUMAN SHIELD

A Palestine boy used as a human shield by Israeli Occupation Soldiers, click the image to enlarge it.

By Abu al-Sous (Salah Mansour)*

Sadly, Israeli propaganda is often presented in Western media as facts, and the Israeli version has been accepted with little verification. The goal is simple: dehumanise the Palestinian by showing that he does not care about his family members, and once that is done it becomes much easier to accept him as a legitimist target.

This dehumanizing campaign is as old as the Zionist movement; it was articulated by Golda Meir (a former Israeli Prime Minister) when she said: Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us. This racist and derogatory comment is often propagated in Western media without a second thought to its dehumanizing consequences. It paints the Arab as a sub-human creature, who has neither affection nor love towards his or her children. When I first heard this racist comment from an American, I felt as if he was telling me: you are not much of a human as I”!
To this date, the Israel Occupation Army (IOF) still refuses to comply with orders from the Israeli Supreme Court to stop using Palestinian civilians as human shields (click here for a BBC article about this subject). If the IOF is a “professional army” as it claims and it treats Palestinians according to International Law, then:
  • I wonder why Israel’s highest court would issue such an order?
  • I wonder why IOF refuses to stop using Palestinians as human shields?
It has been an Israeli strategy from the start to use civilian target as a strategic weapon. Israeli leaders assume this would cause the civilian population to pressure Arab leaders to submit to Israeli dictates. Sadly, this Israeli tactic has been historically effective with the corrupt and unpopular Arab leaders who are more interested in protecting their corrupt regimes than defending their countries. The reader should be reminded of the “Grape of Wrath” agreement between Hizbullah and Israel 1996 which restricted both sides from hitting civilian targets. This agreement signaled the end of the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon, and as a result a new era in the Arab-Israeli conflict have begun where Israel’s deterrence power suffered a major setback. It should be noted that Israel has been determined not to fall into this trap again; that would explain why Israel rejected signing similar agreements with Hamas.

A Palestinian killed by Israeli Occupation Soldiers used as a trophy.
The allegation that Palestinian resistance use their own family members as human shield has been concocted by Zionists to delegitimise any Palestinian resistance, and to deflect from the war crimes that are being perpetrated on the people of Gaza. Palestinians are no different than other colonized people; they’re simply defending their homeland from foreign aggressions. The following list of pictures, articles, movies, and Israeli quotations will conclusively prove that the Israeli Occupation Army is the one who use civilians as human shields.

Zio-Nazi regime hopes world will forget Gaza genocide soon

Zio-Nazi regime hopes world will forget Gaza genocide soon
Khalid Amayreh from Occupied Palestine

Jan 15, 2009

With the holocaust-like Israeli onslaught in Gaza entering its fourth week, and with thousands of Palestinian civilians mercilessly killed and maimed by the Israeli war machine while hundreds others still buried under rubble, Israel is planning a public relations campaign aimed at "making the world forget the bad images" from Gaza very soon.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry this week contacted an American PR firm requesting a "detailed PR plan" that would enhance Israel’s image following the Gaza blitz .

Some military experts have compared the rampant havoc wreaked on Gaza with conditions in the German City of Dresden following the devastating aerial bombings by the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the closing weeks of the Second World War.

According to the Israeli press, the Israeli Foreign Ministry Hasbara (propaganda) department has created a special task force to prepare for the aftermath of the Israeli blitz in Gaza.

The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz said the task force would be charged with repairing damage to Israel’s image.

"The working assumption is that Israel has suffered a blow to its image in the West in the wake of heavy civilian casualties in the Strip."

Palestinian activists and human rights organizations operating in occupied Palestine have released gruesome images of hundreds of badly mutilated children killed or maimed by the continuing Israeli aerial bombing and artillery bombardment of residential areas.

Palestinian officials have described the ongoing Israeli offensive as a real holocaust.

"What Israel is doing to the Palestinians in Gaza is a real holocaust. Israel is murdering civilians en mass, destroying homes, mosques and public institutions," said Ismael Haniya, the Prime Minister of the Hamas government during a speech on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Palestinian hospital sources of more than 1100 Palestinians, mostly children and other innocent civilians, killed and over 5000 people injured, many critically, as a result of the wanton bombings by Israeli F-16 fighters.

Israel has been using excessively disproportionate fire power, including Bunker buster bombs and White Phosphor shells, against a totally defenseless civilian population.

The Israeli paper said Israeli officials were worried that "negative sentiment" toward Israel would grow the moment the full picture of the Israeli blitz emerged.

Israeli hasbara officials have recommended several steps aimed at enhancing Israel’s image, including the intensive involvement of the Israeli army in facilitating the transfer of food and medicine to the bombed-out inhabitants of Gaza.

One Israeli press officer reportedly recommended the employment of the so-called " candy tactic" as an "image booster." The "candy tactic" takes the form of filming Israeli soldiers while giving candies to Palestinian kids, especially after the perpetration of an especially-terrible massacre.

Non the less, Israeli sources admit that no matter how effective Israeli hasbara efforts could be, the shocking reality on the ground in Gaza will be proven indelible.

This is why the Israeli foreign ministry is suggesting that the Jewish state embark on a reactivated peace process with the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The Bible and Middle East History

Colonizing a Metaphor

By ERIC WALBERG
CounterPunch

'For more than a century, archaeologists and historians have attempted to confirm beliefs of both Christians and Jews about their common past using the Old Testament (OT) and New Testaments (NT) as starting points. Christians, while embracing the OT as a harmless precursor of the NT, insist that the combined texts prove the truth of Judaic monotheism, with its covenant with God, a covenant that was renewed with the resurrection of Jesus as the Christ. Jews, of course, stick with the basic OT texts, insisting they alone prove their role as God's Chosen People and their right to create a Jewish state, Israel, in the Holy Land. This Jewish state was first grudgingly accepted by the Christian West, and now is enthusiastically embraced by some Christians based on their own misreading of the Bible. The Bible supposedly predicts that the Jews will return to their supposed promised land, and the messiah will (re)appear, signalling either the end of the Earth or the reign of God.......

And if there is any doubt left at this point that the Bible is the 'gospel truth', to be taken literally, consider one of many such 'instructions' from Yahweh to his 'chosen people':

When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord's anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. In the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them. (Deuteronomy 7 and 20).

Is this the God of mercy and compassion that Bishop Tutu referred to in his appeal in Boston? Or is this the template of an ideological monster dreamed up by a scribe sitting in the Alexandrian Library, and eagerly adopted by bigoted fanatics applying it verbatim to the land of Palestine today?'

Europe stalls on closer Israel links in Gaza protest

European commission moves to upgrade political and trade links with Israel on hold, diplomats

European plans to turn Israel into a "privileged" partner enjoying special political, diplomatic and trade links were frozen by Brussels today in protest at the Israeli onslaught in Gaza.

Senior officials and diplomats in Brussels also said Czech pressure to stage a Europe-Israel summit to launch a new "special relationship" was facing stiff resistance and would probably not take place.

Senior figures in Brussels said the European move was ordered by Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the commissioner for external relations, who instructed various departments of the European commission to suspend implementation of a policy decided last year "to upgrade" relations between Israel and the EU.

"Senior people are saying there should be a pause in close ties between Israel and the union," said a European diplomat.

"The commission has frozen contacts with the Israelis on practical aspects of the upgrade," another diplomat said.

Commission officials denied that the decision amounted to sanctions against Israel. "There's been no talk of sanctions. We're very focused on the Egyptian [ceasefire] plan," said a senior official.

The EU and the Israeli government agreed last summer on the new policy giving Tel Aviv a privileged partnership with Europe, entailing greater integration into Europe's single market.

Ramiro Cibrian-Uzal, the EU commission's ambassador to Israel, told reporters in Jerusalem today that the war in Gaza meant bilateral relations between Israel and the 27-nation bloc "cannot proceed business as usual".

He said: "In a war situation, in a situation in which Israel is at war, using its war means in a very dramatic way, in a powerful way in Gaza, everybody realises that it is not the appropriate time to upgrade bilateral relations."

The decision to suspend implementation comes as a blow to the Israeli foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, a month before she faces the rightwing hawk Benjamin Netanyahu in a general election.

The new European policy was in part designed to help Livni win the election and late last year she had two "tempestuous" meetings with Bernard Kouchner, the French foreign minister, demanding quicker European action to boost her poll chances. EU foreign ministers responded with a decision to push ahead with the policy.

While the practical impact of the freeze may be minimal, officials said, the political and symbolic signals are strong, controversial and unusual.

"It wouldn't surprise me if people like Fererro-Waldner were working not on an upgrade, but on a downgrade," said a third diplomat in Brussels.

The protest move has been orchestrated by the commission which, at a meeting in Strasbourg yesterday, agreed that "people should stay away from Israel", said another source.

The decision is likely to run into strong criticism among governments of the 27 member states. The Czech Republic assumed the EU presidency at the beginning of the year with a robust pro-Israeli campaign in mind. "The Czech presidency is seen to be very keen to take an American line on this," said the source.

The Czechs have been seeking to organise a European summit with Israel in May or June in Prague to mark the launch of the new deal.

"They want a highly symbolic summit to demonstrate the EU's partnership with Israel as particularly privileged," said one of the diplomats. "It's all off for the moment; particularly inappropriate. It would be tremendously divisive."

British diplomats neither supported nor opposed the commission move, saying only that the priority was to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.

Lahoud to Al-Manar: Lebanon Can't Be 'Neutral'!

Hussein Assi Readers Number : 384

15/01/2009

Former President Emile Lahoud called on Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and other officials to decide to take part in the Qatari-suggested Arab Summit to take place in Doha on Friday, stressing that Lebanon can't be "neutral" in this field.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Al-Manar, Lahoud recalled that Qatar played a major role in resolving the Lebanese conflict, noting that the Lebanese President was elected and the national-unity government was formed thanks to the Doha Agreement.

"Even more important is that Lebanon confronted the Zionist entity in 2006 just like Gaza is doing today," Lahoud pointed out. "Lebanon has achieved victory against Israel," he also recalled.

"Is it possible for Lebanon now to take the position of neutrality?" Lahoud wondered, stressing that if Lebanon actually takes that the position, "then this is shameful." He was referring to the logic saying that Lebanon had no interest in supporting one Arab axis against another.

I AM ISRAEL!!!

I am Israel - I came to a land without a people for a people without a land. Those people who happened to be here, had no right to be here, and my people showed them they had to leave or die, razing 480 Palestinian villages to the ground, erasing their history.

I am Israel - some of my people committed massacres and later became Prime Ministers to represent me. In 1948, Menachem Begin was in charge of the unit that slaughtered the inhabitants of Deir Yassin, including 100 men, women, and children. In 1953, Ariel Sharon led the slaughter of the inhabitants of Qibya, and in 1982 arranged for our allies to butcher around 2,000 in the refugee camps of Sabra and Shatilla.

I am Israel - carved in 1948 out of 78% of the land of Palestine, dispossessing its inhabitants and replacing them with Jews from Europe and other parts of the world. While the natives whose families lived on this land for thousands of years are not allowed to return, Jews from all over the world are welcome to instant citizenship.

I am Israel - in 1967, I swallowed the remaining lands of Palestine - the West Bank and Gaza - and placed their inhabitants under an oppressive military rule, controlling and humiliating every aspect of their daily lives. Eventually, they should get the message that they are not welcome to stay, and join the millions of Palestinian refugees in the shanty camps of Lebanon and Jordan.

I am Israel - I have the power to control American policy. My American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) can make or break any politician of its choosing, and as you see, they all compete to please me. All the forces of the world are powerless against me, including the UN as I have the American veto to block any condemnation of my war crimes. As Sharon so eloquently phrased it, "We control America".

I am Israel - I influence American mainstream media too, and you will always find the news tailored to my favor. I have invested millions of dollars into PR representation, and CNN, New York Times, and others have been doing an excellent job of promoting my propaganda. Look at other international news sources and you will see the difference.

I am Israel - and you Palestinians want to negotiate "peace!?" But you are not as smart as me; I will negotiate, but will only let you have your municipalities while I control your borders, your water, your airspace, and anything else of importance. While we "negotiate," I will swallow your hilltops and fill them with settlements, populated by the most extremist of my extremists, armed to the teeth. These settlements will be connected with roads you cannot use, and you will be imprisoned in your little Bantustans between them, surrounded by checkpoints in every direction.

I am Israel - with the fourth strongest army in the world, possessing nuclear weapons. How dare your children confront my oppression with stones, don't you know my soldiers won't hesitate to blow their heads off? In 17 months, I have killed 900 of you and injured 17,000, mostly civilians, and have the mandate to continue since the international community remains silent. Ignore, as I do, the hundreds of Israeli soldiers who are now refusing to carry out my control over your lands and people; their voices of conscience will not protect you.

I am Israel - and you want freedom? I have bullets, tanks, missiles, Apaches, and F-16's, to obliterate you. I have placed your towns under siege, confiscated your lands, uprooted your trees, demolished your homes, and you still demand freedom? Don't you get the message? You will never have peace or freedom, because I am Israel.

P.S. Israel [Jewish apartheid] must be dismantled. And zionism [Jewish supremacism, Jewish exceptionalism] must be banned.

History started with the first Hamas Rocket ??

Source

A rocket...... to start History

Most of the Israeli-commentator s-politicians
are repeating the same argument that

"Israel has evacuated Gazza and
that consequently there are no more
settlements in Gazza" (no more occupation)

Therefore Gazzeans must shut up and be happy
and that there are no reasons left over
to the animosity and firing of rockets.

In other words Israelis are sayingto the world .

" Look we evacuated Gazza and they
are still shooting at our children !!"

Needless to remind the world that
Israel kept Gazza besieged , by air
land and sea and not one piece of bread
reached Gazza without Israel's permission.

The other tactic was to isolate Gazza from Palestine
and from the geopolitics of this conflict too.
As if Gazza were a different land, country or different people
as if Gazza would be another Cyprus , for example .

May I remind (or inform) those who forgot
and those who never knew, that the population
of Gazza originated 80% from the stolen-Palestine
which is now called "Israel-proper ".

So when a Gazzean sends a rocket to Sederot (or Ashkalom)
which was originally his or her own hometown , now occupied
and re-baptised with a Hebraic-new- name..... ...
he is bombing his own (stolen) hometown !!
in order to liberate it from the occupiers.

So when Israel claims to have "evacuated Gazza,"
it has practically evacuated only the prison where
its victims were , but Israel has kept the stolen loot !!

Thus , Israel-hypocrisy must not be rewarded
and the world's-naivety must be injected with truth and knowledge !!

History did not start when Hamas sent the first rocket
nor does History stop when Israel evacuated Gazza !!.
