AAMMAN, (PIC)-- Sheikh Kamal Abu Taima, one of the Hamas leaders in the West Bank, has been pronounced dead in a Jordanian hospital on Tuesday following a brain stroke suffered during torture in the jails of Mahmoud Abbas.

Well informed sources told PIC reporter that medical teams supervising the treatment of Abu Taimi, who was earlier announced in a state of clinical death, said that he breathed his last earlier today.

Abu Taima, 44, was kidnapped by security militias loyal to Abbas, former PA chief and Fatah leader, on 16/9/2008 and was subjected to excruciating torture rounds.

Abbas's security refused to implement a ruling by the higher Palestinian court to release Abu Taima on 2/11/2008 and continued to torture him.

Abu Taima suffered brain stroke and was hospitalized on 30/5/2009 and moved to Amman.

Hamas holds Abbas responsible for death of Abu Taima

GAZA, (PIC)-- In two separate statements in Gaza and the West Bank, Hamas held Mahmoud Abbas, former PA chief and Fatah leader, responsible for the death of Sheikh Kamal Abu Taima, one of its leaders in the West Bank, in his security apparatuses' jails.

The West Bank statement said that the preventive security apparatus in particular holds the topmost responsibility for the death of Abu Taimi because he was tortured in its jails.

It added that the death of Abu Taima exposes the degree of savage torture in Abbas's dungeons, affirming that the day will come when those culprits are brought to account for their crimes.

The Gaza statement said that the death of Abu Taima posed as a serious escalation against Hamas in the West Bank.

It said that Abbas and his security apparatuses had turned into tools in the hands of Israeli occupation to achieve its "criminal goals".

Abu Taimia died in a Jordanian hospital where he was transferred after suffering brain stroke during torture rounds in Abbas's jails.
