Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia have plotted to kill the Hezbollah leader over his growing sway among Muslim nations, a new report says.

Citing an informed Egyptian source, Shia Online news website reported that the security services of Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia have devised a joint plan to assassinate Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah after his recent speech which has increased his popularity among Muslims.

According to the report, the three sides have come to the conclusion that the killing of Nasrallah is the only way to confront the spread of Hezbollah's policy of resistance in the Middle East.

The report added that a team of three senior Egyptian security officials secretly traveled to Israel to meet Mossad officials and discuss the plan and that the two sides have reached a preliminary agreement about the details of the plot.

Based on the plot, Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan who has close relations with the Americans play the role of a broker between Saudi officials and the Israelis.

Israel has recently called for the
assassination of the Hezbollah Secretary General as Egypt has stepped up its efforts against the movement.

Egyptian security forces have arrested a group of youths over alleged links with the Lebanese movement. They claim that the group was plotting "terrorist attacks" against Egyptians and Israeli targets.
